Grapevine Vintage Railroad
The Grapevine Vintage Railroad is a
popular tourist destination for railroad buffs traveling to the D/FW
metroplex. It features a roundtrip excursion between the Cotton Belt
Depot in Grapevines downtown historic district to Fort Worth
Stockyards station. The line operates two locomotives. The most
famous is
"Puffy", an 1896 Steam Locomotive that smokes, puffs and
steams it's way down the track. The other unit is this 1953 GP-7
#2199 Diesel
Locomotive. Either way, passengers are treated to an open air
experience of riding the rails.
In the photos below, we were treated
to a trip down the tracks in the cab of the GP-7. It was a
real thrill to ride in the locomotive as it switched the passenger
cars in preparation for a trip to the Stockyards.
